A Chess-Playing Family!

Rachael Li comes from a chess-playing family. She began playing chess competitively at 4 years old, and played in her first World Open at 4-and-a-half years old.

An Expert at 8 Years Old!

Rachael, now the #1 female player in her age group in the United States, also broke the record for the youngest ever female USA Chess Expert last year at 8 years old.

Interestingly, Rachael’s older brother Ruifeng Li, now a 17-year-old Grandmaster, did not earn his Expert title until he was 9 years old–a year older than Rachael’s accomplishment!

Words of Wisdom from Rachael Li!

“Learning may sometimes be boring, but you must have patience and grit to improve. Don’t mind the obstacles that are in your way, once you get talented, they are like pieces of cheese getting shredded.”

Rachael is on her way!
