The World Youth Chess Championship

The Netherlands has a Girl Under 14 World Chess Champion!

Eline Roebers from Amsterdam won the World Chess Championship Under 14 years old category for girls. The World Youth Championships were held online because of COVID-19.

The World Youth Chess Championship is a chess competition for girls and boys under the age of 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18.

Twelve world chess champions are crowned every year–six girls and six boys.

The Dutch media paid a lot of attention to Eline’s recent success. The daily news for kids–JeugdJournaal–broadcasted a special segment about Eline’s World Championship title in the Dutch language.
